Frances Scotton Martin, 76, of Staley, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at her residence.
Funeral Services, 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Holly's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Ramseur.
Officiating, Rev. Dwayne Lester.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Frances was a lifetime member of Holly's Chapel Church. She taught preschoolers Sunday School for over 30 years. Her love of children shone through her teaching. She held many positions in the Women's Ministry, as well as the Girl's Auxiliary. She helped with more chicken pie dinners for the church than one can count.
Her love for cooking for others led her to a career in food service. She started working for Randolph County Schools in 1976 at Eastern Randolph High School. She left there to become the cafeteria manager at Randleman Elementary School. From there, she spent 23 years at Liberty School as cafeteria manager. She always sought to go the extra mile to meet the needs of everyone. It has been evident to all that for Frances, it was not just a job, it was a calling.
Frances and her husband, Bob, shared a love of traveling. During their 58 years of marriage, they shared many adventures together. They loved the beach, but probably the mountains were their favorite vacation spot. It was not unheard of for them to get up early and travel to the Daniel Boone Inn for breakfast.
Frances loved God, the church, and her family and friends. She loved big family get togethers and playing games. Her heart was full when she had her children, Sherri, Robbie, his wife Angie and the light of her life, Greyson, home for homecooked meals. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Addie Pugh Scotton, her sisters, Eunice Wicker, Shirley Hughes, and brothers, Hampton "Billy" Scotton, and Donald Scotton.
Survivors: husband, Robert "Bob" Martin, of the home, daughter, Sherri Martin, of Staley, son, Robert Martin, Jr., and wife, Angela, of Candor, sister, Linda Kimrey, of Staley, brother, Rev. Delmar Scotton, and wife, Betty, of Staley, sisters-in-law, Pat Hall, of Southern Pines, Shirley Pickard, of Staley, Peggy Allen, of Liberty, and Dorothy Vestal, of Siler City, grandson, Greyson Martin.
