This is a classic for medical school students like you. It gives you information on all the different medical specialties and tips for applying to the different specialties. This book (an earlier edition obviously) was one of my favorite books in medical school. If you are still tying to figure out what specialty to choose, or if you are applying for residency,Iserson’swill give you vital information to help you in your quest. The Successful Match 2017: Rules for Success in the Residency Match is a good resource Many reviewers on amazon.com found this resource helpful. The Successful Matchis a full service book that talks about preparing your application such as the Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Letters of Recommendation and goes on to talk about Interview Questions and the actual Interview day. It comes as apaperback.

Beingone part textbook and one part survival guide, it is a high yield book that will get you started on your career in anesthesiology.Anesthesia Made Easyis available as either apaperbackorKindle versionfrom Amazon.com.
While not included in myTop 7 Books for Anesthesia Trainees,Clinical Anesthesia Procedures of the Massachusetts General Hospitalis a great resource to have on hand in the operating room. It is an in-depth resource that I still use to this day to review concepts I have not thought about since residency. This is an easy to carry and read book when you want to look up a topic to read about when on your anesthesia rotation. TheMass General Bookis a great book to carry with you during your anesthesia rotations because it is easily carried in your backpack or laid on the back of the anesthesia cart. It is available as apaperbackand in aKindle version.
The book calledMorgan and Mikhail’s Clinical Anesthesiologyis my favorite basic anesthesia book. It is well written, and easy to pickup and read when you have some down time. I used M&M during my anesthesia training to learn the basics and to prepare for my In-Training Exam (ITE) and my boards. It makes it easy to look up information you need quickly and can be read for long periods of time. As one Amazon reviewer stated “ … the (new) authors clearly and concisely present the material in an easily digestible format.” This book is available inpaperbackand onKindle.
Called “Baby Miller” or “Miller Light,”Basics of Anesthesiahas been a staple for anesthesia trainees for generations. I read the 4th edition cover to cover my senior year of medical school. While is it namedBasics of Anesthesia, it certainly has expanded over the years. It is laid out a little differently than “Clinical Anesthesia,” but it is a basic anesthesia book that will serve you well. It truly is a classic.Basics of Anesthesiais available as ahardback,paperback,and onKindle.
