Terra Mystica features 14 factions, each of which has its own combination of abilities, building costs, initial positions, and incomes. While each one is distinct, there are some particular commonalities that allow the factions to be dissected, categorized, and effectively compared.

In the base version of the game, there are 7 player-boards, each with a Faction on each side, for 14 Factions (or Races) in all.

The factions of Terra Mystica exist in a delicate balance, but they do differ in strength on different maps due to the varying distribution of terrain.

I thought I would write a little something on improving as a Terra Mystica player as I started playing this game in April 2020 and I have now gotten to a high of 38 on the ladder. While I am not great, I have noticed a few things from starting as terrible and gotten decent. I read a lot of the stuff on BGG (I really should join the site to post, but everybody else says what I am thinking anyway so no need really).
